Michael Jordon is an American former professional basketball player. He is the principal owner of the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Jordan won his first NBA championship in 1991, playing for Chicago Bulls. He repeated the feat in 1992 and 1993 and then again in 1996, 1997 and 1998. Jordan has won record six NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards and ten scoring titles. He has also won five MVP Awards, three All-Star Game MVP Awards, ten All-NBA First Team designations, nine All-Defensive First Team honors, fourteen NBA All-Star Game selections and the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1988.

In 1999, ESPN named Jordan the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN. He was included into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2015.

Jordan was named Chief Wish Ambassador of The Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2008. In the wake of Hurricane Florence that damaged parts of North Carolina, Jordan donated $2 million to relief efforts. In 2019, he gave $1 million to aid the Bahamas’ recovery following Hurricane Dorian.
