Michael Schumacher, a retired German Formula One driver, has raced for Jordan Grand Prix, Benetton, Ferrari and Mercedes. He is often regarded as one of the greatest Formula One drivers ever.

Schumacher is the only driver in the history of Formula One to win seven World Championships, five of which he won consecutively. Schumacher, the most successful driver in the history of the sport, has the most Grand Prix wins (91), the most fastest laps (77) and the most races won in a single season (13). According to the official website of Formula One (Formula1.com), Schumacher was “statistically the greatest driver the sport has ever seen” at the time of his retirement from the sport.

Schumacher, a UNESCO ambassador, has been involved in numerous humanitarian efforts throughout his life, donating tens of millions of dollars to charity. Schumacher was honoured with the Officier of Légion d’honneur title from French prime minister François Fillon on 30 April 2010.
