Steve Ballmer, an American businessman and investor, was the CEO of Microsoft from 2000 to 2014. He is the current owner of NBA team Los Angeles Clippers.

Ballmer was an MBA student at Stanford University but quit it in 1980 after Bill Gates hired him at Microsoft. He assumed the role of Microsoft President in 1998 and succeeded Gates as CEO in 2000. During his tenure, Microsoft acquired Skype and the mobile phone division of Nokia. With him at the helm, Microsoft’s sales tripled and profit doubled.

In 2017, Ballmer launched, a non-profit organization that aims to inform people about US government revenue, spending and societal impact. He invested $59 million in Social Solutions in 2018, a company which makes software for nonprofits and government agencies.
