Zig Ziglar was an American author and motivational speaker.
Zig Ziglar was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He was the tenth of 12 children of John Silas Ziglar and Lila Wescott Ziglar. Ziglar participated in the Navy V-12 Navy College Training Program at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina between 1943 and 1945.
Ziglar, together with Hal Krause and Richard “Dick” Gardner, was a charter member in the establishment of American Salesmasters in 1963. The company aimed to raise the image of salespeople in America by providing seminars.
Dick Gardner founded the National Association of Sales Education in 1965. Ziglar was one of its main speakers. He was also a prominent sales trainer for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Also, Ziglar spoke extensively at seminars for Peter Lowe, of Get Motivated. Eventually, he signed an exclusive agreement to support Peter Lowe events.
Ziglar wrote over 30 books. See You at the Top was Ziglar’s first book and was rejected 39 times before it was published in 1975. It is still in print. Also, Ziglar employed and trained several speakers, including Will Harris.
